Bone Densitometry

A steady decline of calcium occurs in most women after the age of 35. It takes on a more rapid course after menopause due to the decrease in oestrogen level. Bone mass reduction initially occurs in pelvic region. MediFast performs precise and reliable analysis for osteoporosis using GE Lunar DPX-MD+- with advanced technology known as DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) to measure the bone density of femur, spine, and the whole body. Comparing with those ankle and wrist screening machines , DEXA is more accurate and precise.

Recommendations for Bone Density Screening are as follow :

  • age between 30-40, bone density screening at least once
  • age between 40-50, bone density screening every two years
  • age above 50, annual bone density screening
