Electrocardiogram (ECG)

ECG includes Resting ECG & Treadmill Stress Test. Resting ECG records heart rates and rhythm in resting condition. Some heart disorders cannot be detected by Resting ECG. Treadmill Stress Test is able to detect some minor blood vessel narrowing while the client is under stress and exercise status.

ECG is a record of the electrical impulses which stimulate the heart to contract. It demonstrates abnormal rhythm changes, cardiac arrhythmia, ischaemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, etc. It is usually the first examination for clients with suspected heart disorders.

MediFast adopts Treadmill Stress Test machine (CASE 8000). The entire process is monitored and recorded by computer. A diagnosis can be made rapidly and accurately.

Routine ECG is recommended for clients who are :

  • diabetic
  • hypertensive
  • hypercholesterolaemic
  • having family history of heart disease
  • above the age of 30, annual ECG as preventive check-up
  • suspected of heart problems (e.g. palpitation, heart murmur, angina, etc)
  • smokers and drinkers
    having stressful life style
